All fixed ladder construction is determined by the codes and regulations set out by the federal and provincial workplace safety rules.
To determine your requirements, it is best to start with the basic measurements that apply to your location. It is not often that a fixed ladder leads to a sloped roof, but if this is the case, we can provide solutions for that as well. For now, these are all the measurement required for access from flat surface to flat surface.
They are as follows:
A. Overall Height (from ground or rooftop surface to the highest point of the wall)
B. Parapet Height (the height of the capping on the wall)
C. Parapet Width (total width of the capping including any flare at the bottom)
D. Parapet Depth (from the face of the wall to the capping including any flare, on both sides if different)
E. Wall Thickness
F. Height of Stepdown (from top of capping to roof surface)
